
Leona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British musician, singer actor, activist and actress. Her birthplace was in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition when she was awarded the third season on The X Factor 2006 and received a contract worth PS1,000,000 together with Syco music. The single she was awarded, the cover version from Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" was a top-charting #1 for four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching the milestone of 50,000 downloads in just thirty minutes. In February 2007, Lewis agreed to sign a five-album deal in the United States with Clive Davis's label, J Records. Lewis continued her success with Spirit the first studio album. The album was platinum 10x certified in the UK. This album became one of the top four albums sold in 2000, as well as among the most-sold UK albums. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the top-selling debut album from a female artist to date in the 21st century. "Bleeding Love", the lead single of Spirit, remained Number One in the UK for seven weeks. It was also one of the best-selling songs in the United Kingdom. In the US it was also the highest-selling single of 2008 . Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard that year. In 2009, she debuted her sophomore studio album, Echo and also composed the theme song, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint project with Swedish DJ Avicii. The year 2011 saw her also dropped Hurt, the extended play on her EP debut. Glassheart (2012) is her 3rd album of studio work. She took inspiration from electronic and dubstep music. The singer began recording material for her first Christmas album on the Glassheart Tour, which took during the middle of 2013. In the following year, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the lead single "One more time" it reached the top three spot across the UK. By releasing this chart entry Lewis made history as the only British single female to make it into the top 5 with eight songs, beating Olivia Newton-John's record which was seven.
